Well, since no one posted anything in the Alliance section in reply to Xtianus's posts, both guilds have gone to another alliance. So we can scratch that. Only ones that responded was myself and jon here.I hope to see some more partisipation, not just brousing and then not saying anything. If we want the alliance to become more active, us GM's have to do more then just brouse. Help set up some events, respond when we see others post.. even if it is just an acknowledgement of what they said.I am not the boss, and I dont run the alliance,we all do. <sighs> And part of our image does come from how we post. Which brings me up to the next topic....We had a chance to become an official affiliate of Sigil's Vanguard. There is only one aspect that we scored a 0 (zero) on. That was forum partisapation. They said if there were at least a dozen people posting on a regular basis, then we would have been accepted. You think this does not matter? Well it realy does.. a LOT. Becoming an affiliate site, means that we would have gotten 10 beta accounts to pass out to whom ever we wanted. As well as ten more beta accounts each month for our memebers of the forum/alliance/guildHere is what we lost out on from lack of posting:1) Sponcership program for our website/forum2) 10 Free beta CD keys right off the bat3) 4-10 Beta keys each month untill releace4) Current news, css threads and automatic updating gaming news5) Saving money!6) Public spotlight and possible new memebers for DAoC and other games- Becoming MORE active with more good, like minded people.6) Additional Beta programs for other games as a guld/allianceThat also would have ment the possibility of this entire site being hosted for free in 6 months. Membership though the affiliate program does have a LOT of advantages. That would have saved me (yes im being selfish here on this aspect) over $400 a year. As well as time spent (in reguards to css threads and news)That also puts us up ahead for other games that are our there and are looking for beta testers. As was was told to me:"It looks like an active forum, but a forum of only one or two people. We are limited in who we can have, and need to have more active sites to become an affiliate."Well, think on that. I am proud of everyone here, and was even more so that we were considered for this later aspect. But between other guilds, and old memebers going other places, and being turned down for such a great oppertunity.. well its disapointing because both desissions were based on the forum activity.Okay, well, that is it.Peace,Sarrene'

I'm sorry Sara. I could have swore I posted as a reply that I had met Xtianus before and thought he was nice and would not mind more in the alliance.. my opion is the more good people the better we would be. He he and selfish my self .. I know many will be leaving when other games come out and I will still be here so the more people here the more people who may possibly stay in alliance and play with me

Oh and also geeze that is alot of money to pay for this forum. Is there not any acceptable free ones? I would love to help pay , however right now I can't . Still job hunting, So hope something comes through for me or Dale soon, times are hard and the holidays are coming. My kids are older and they understand to an extent, still don't make it feel any better. Some how we always make it through and we will again. Things always work out how they are meant.

That is not just for the forum.. included in that is...

1) Forum
2) Website
3) Bandwidth
4) Picture Host

and that si not including any software licences either. Though once payed for that is minimal.

So its a collection of the services that adds up. Plus, being an affiliate site would have helped in so many areas....

As far as leading the Andronnai/Prosapia middle to later next year, you are more then welcome to if you like. As far as people like myself, niq and I know others, we will not be leaving just like that! hehe.. it will be gradual once we find the family game. We always take our time to make sure that what ever one, whether Vanguard or another game, is one that the majority wants to play.

Peace,

getting us in on the beta and being able to give those keys out to people who might be intrested in going over would have been great. I think people need to pay a little more attention to what is going on here.

I realy dont know if its that people do not pay attention.. or they just dont care.

Its sad, since the entire guild/alliance lost out on this one, not just me. And that is the biggest failure I can think of for a guild/alliance.

As far as a free sites, there are those, however we would not get our domain name, it would be a whole new address (URL) and it would be full of ads and pop ups.

Not to mention the limited bandwidth and space, as well as customization. Meaning we couldhave something very basic, but that would be it.

As far as matron.. What if i dont want to be any more? :P

Thank u Jaquie I've been telling her that for months but she just wont accept it . She is the proverbial mule over this despite what I tell her about the level of support and respect she commands in the gaming community as a whole as well as within this guild . She does a great job with the web site although there are times when she has to tinker and tinker and cant step back and call it a day .

Sarah states what the guild lost as a lack of posting which is a shame I admit . However VG did not really do a great deal to advertise what stage they had reached and assumed that everyone would constantly refer to thier website . Sarah did her best to ensure that VG was kept in peoples mind through the foruum and was inhibited by the NDA agreememnt . I have checked my e-mail and since the acknowledgement of registration for VG I have received nothing from VG . In contrast I recieve regular updates from 'Dark and Light' , 'Everquest' , @guild wars' and others .

I don't know or understand why people are not responding on the forums , maybe there is something else that players are using to communicate with each other . Over time Web sites come and go , currently many have now been reduced to one page with a precis of the guilds intent and a contact number . However Andronnai has always managed to come through these low periods .

For the record I will not be abandoning the guild albeit I probably will be around in NWN or VG form . As for DAOC , I will wait and see , given the latest fiasco re minotaurs I want to see how Mythic/EA respond before I make a final decision . To be honest I think EA/Mythic now have no choice but to react positively if they want to maintain a  usable customer base for warhammer and future products .

:P I am not the boss. Simple as that. This has been my family for a long long time, I just dont want to see it go away now. Not over something as stupid as a lack of communication. Expecialy when there are so many great people here. Not just the council but everyone. However, since this was posted here, it was ment for you all. The council, the heart of the family. :P

Family and Gaming:
The work I put in is because I want to. But John is right on one aspect. We have  never had just a plain jane website. In fact, and some of  the older memebers here, like those that have been around for 15 + years :P, can state that we were one of the first to have a website of any kind, other then a blog or forum. A lot has changed over the years, the website has actualy gotten smaller, as the forum has gotten larger. Yet, I would still love to have more on here, if people will visit and use what is avalible. I do this for everyone.

Communication is the most important thing there is in any organization. Does not matter if it is a gaming community or self help group. Andronnai, and now Prosapia has been about more then any of that. Andronnai is about family and working to gether and helping each other out. Prosapia was formed with 8 guilds (three of them "cousin" guilds and family) based on friendships, families and then having fun in game. I do not want to see either of these aspects lost. I do not want to see the history of Andronnai and the start of Prosapia to end because of that lack of communication. With out it, be it in game, or even here (expecialy here now that we all have raly weird scheduals) then only an end can come. Andronnai has lasted too long, and only being a few original memebers left, it would be a very very sad end at that.

Prosapia has only just begun a year ago, and though not that long, it is still a family of friends and has strenth in support and that friendship. I do not want to see that die out either. I want to see the legacy, the reasion why Andronnai and Prosapia continue.

Games:
Anyways, as far as comminication between Sigil and other people whom have signed up, I can only guess as to why. It appears (some of you know what i mean) that they are focusing most of their attention to the actual game and getting it ready. They have their PR's that are involved with the Affiliate sites (which is another aspect we lost out on) yet, most of their time is focused on creating, repairing and designing a good solid game. Also with the beta testers, from what I can gather as well. I am not too worried over all that they are not sending out regular news letters, in fact I see that as a good sign in this case.

Games like Dark Light has lost a lot. It did not do half as well as they had thought, then again, the game play changed. It did a 180 from beta to releace. Sadly, they are realy trying to get people to play it. Therefor sending out news letters on a regular basis. Darkfall had lost close to half their beta testers as well for almost the same thing. It went from a Role play focused pvp game (with consequences- like writs, bounties and faction/allignment) to a Free For All game, with role play only in pockets. I know that sounds drastic, but sadly that is what they did when they removed all the consequences to the game. There was talk of bring some back, though I have not checked on the forums at all in the last month and half.

EverQuest and Guild Wars is already out and has been for some time. Therefor news letters are quite common. You can get the same for Eve (which is fun btw and can play the free trial as many times as you like fyi), City of heros/Villians, WoW, and so on. Most games, unless they seem/appear to be in trouble do not send out regular news letters if it is still in early/mid beta. At least that has been my experience.

Vanguard Affiliate Program:
To see what stage Vanguard is on in reguards to the Beta, all you have to do is visit the forum and look under BETA STAGE or their website under the same and the FAQ on their main site. Since it is still middle stage, I do not think they realy need to advertise out loud on what step they are on. I mean, mass mailings and the likes. I think in the end that would only create more spam for them, on top of what they already get from people wanting to be in the beta.

In reguards to the Affiliate program, that is something that I was asked if I was interested, then reviewed. It was not something I could say "hey, every start posting, we need to be an affiliate." This is for a few reasions. One, it would seem fake when they reviewd. After all, a (possible) sudden rush of activity, and then it ends again once its over? Would not look good even at the review stage. I am sure they could see that activity did not pick up iuntill they started the app. Secondly, I will not ask anyone to post just for some personal gain. I want  people to post becuse they want to, because I see ALL of us as a family of sorts, because everyone here means somethign to me, even those I have not met in real life.

Also Sigil is not going ot advertise that they are reviewing a site. App is put in, they review when they are ready and then the desission is made.

Beta, forums, and Contests:
There are still plenty of contests out there for people to try to get into the beta. One thing though for those that have signed up on the Official Sigil forums, you do not need to post a lot, or even hardly at all.. but you do need to sign in at least once every two weeks to keep your account active on there. It goes into a idle status after two weeks, and then inactive after 30 days. So please!!!!  If you will, sign in there at least once every two weeks. This will help to get an invite.

Right now the beta invites from the official forum are on hold for two weeks. They stated it would be for six weeks while they were weworking one of the lands. (On the official forum) That is up in little over a week and a half. However, the idle and iactive accounts does still apply. On another note though, they are still doing the contests and invites for the affiliate sites. That includes VN Vanguard and the other links i have in our Vanguard section (The sticky for links) Each of those sites does have  a vanguard beta contest each month. Everyone is different, so keep an eye out on those. the more you enter the better chance you will have to get into it.

Testing vs Playing a Beta:
Being in a beta is not the same as trying out a game. Of course it can give you an idea if it is a game you will like or not. Darkfall is one that comes to mind that I have not been to since the big changes. It was not because of the playability, or the bugs in it, but because it was, even in beta, a free for all. Too many people there for that next PvP kill, and not realy "TESTING" the game and helping the Devs find bugs and fixes. But most games are not like that. (It seems they had attracted quite the gank fest crowd for some reasion).
Vanguard, like other betas is about testing the game, finding bugs, reporting them, and watching the game actualy develope.

Conclusion:
There realy is not a conclusion to this. At least I hope there will not be. I do not know why people are not posting, replying, and generaly being active here or in game. Everyone has their own reasions and thoughts, their own share of excuses and answers. None of them are invalid or wrong, but perhaps if we stepped out for a second and looked at it from antohers point of view, like Chuck's (Xtainus, i think that is how he spells it), perhaps we can find something to say, or something to share. Usualy, it only takes five to ten minutes to make a post. Longer if you write a book like me. That five or ten minutes a day (or every other day even) to see what people have said, to post something up.. is not realy that long at all when you look at the time we all spend in games, on other forums.. or even over a life time.

Posting more, as GM's and Alliance Council, will only have a positive effect. The more we post and are active, the more active others will be. Its just a simple fact. Once we have lost intrest and no longer are an active part of this family/community, then others will see that and not partisipate either. That is not mean, that is, for some reasion, how people are. Human nature some would say.

So ask yourself, what would you like to see? what would you like to happen? where would you like this alliance to go? once you ask that, ask yourself , what would you like to do?

Peace,
Sarrene'

Its taken me a little bit to come up with what to say cause since ive been back i have been pretty disappointed about how the game is turning out.. the expansion is not the greatest which saddens me!

anyways i really like the forum and site.. but i dont think sara should keep paying for something that only a few of use. this was an issue for a long time and then as soon as we mention or complain about no one using thats when everyone decides to say oh no dont get rid of it we'll use it... now i am not saying anything bad about anyone!! because i know that sometimes you just dont think to post or to come here all the time.. thats not wrong.

i also think its because we dont have all the same ppl. we are missing alot of the members we once had. wether they were from alliance or andronnai guild itself we have lost some members.. so i dont know. im pretty confused as to what to do or to think about all this. i like the forum and site and do not want to see it go.. but i also dont want so much of others time and money into this and get no responses or others interests.

thats how i feel atm im sorry if i upset anyone with it but thats how i feel right now.

I dont mind donating to the cause, but this time when it was due I was broke. I'm sure before it is due again I will be able to donate to help pay for more time. As far as coming here goes... I come here almost every day. I don't post every day because sometimes I come here just before I am leaving to go to class, and just dont have the time to do so, other times I come here and there's just nothing I have to say about the topics. Take for example the short clips that are posted... they don't always require a response... I suppose I could post a little "Oh I liked that" or something, but to me that seems like I am just plusing to my post count. /boggles

Anyway, I will do my best to donate to the warchest between now and when its due again. If we all just donate a little, it wouldn't be a burden to any of us.

That's my 2 cents worth.

see its not really the money.. trust me when i say sara wouldnt even think of the money of it if everyone used it. (unless it was like a million dollars.. then id beat her up for paying for it LOL ) its because there are only us select few that post.. you look at who all responded to this and thats who mostly responds to everything..

In all the guilds I have been involved with since starting DAoC (and thats only 2, Sacred Hearts and Nemesis), it has always been a problem to get people to participate in forums. With Nemesis, we even had it written into the guild charter than members had to participate in the forums, and we only achieved about 15% active participation, and this was in the peak of Nemesis days.

I understand the frustration, honestly I do, but to get people to take time from their lives to come visit a forum is always going to be a difficult one.
