I am going to have to be paying for the website here real soon. And, on advice of a good friend here, I have acualy been looking at alternitives. The only one i see that is somwhat compatable would be this one here:DKPSitesI am not sure how customizable they are, nor even how supportive they will be. I have looked at some of the sites that are there, and a few of them are not too bad. Though I am not sure what I would be able to do. It does look like (from reading the faq) that I can do a bit of work.Only down side is that they do NOT have a DNS service. Which means I would have to regester the website domain name with another company and then link it to the one built on DKPS. And I realy am not sure how that would work.Let me know what you think. It would take a bit of time to get it worked out of course, but if you all like it it would be a bit cheeper as well. Of course, we would have to go with the largest package, yet that is still a lot cheeper then what we have now.On a down side, I do not see where I can set up pages indivualy to have a Database, Maps or even a photo albume. So im not too sure. I am just thinking it over and want to see what everyone here thinks. Please let me know..and remember, in the end, the money does NOT matter. It is what is fits us the best and what we need/use/want.Okay, I take that back.. it looks like we CAN have photo albumes on there. again though, I am not sure how customizable it is.. let me look at the Domain name information....On a side note, I am not too sure if I like how the forums are set up on that site. It seems like there is no way to have a privite section, as well as public ones. We realy need to have the option to have seperate forums. Their way of sorting it out seems... clustered. What do you think?here is what the forums look likeIf anyone sees anything that they would like to add, please do so. Thanks.Other options:Guild Universe-The cheepest I can find, but very basic and very limited.Dream Weave Hosting-not sure I fully understand the package deals, confusing in details.Clan Site Manager- Seems like a new service, unsure of pricing, or customization options.Peace,Sarrene'

It all depends on what we put on the site and what is avalible.  Including forum. If what ever it is has a forum, then not too much. But then again the trick is...

Here are questions I have to look at when trying to decide on a web host:

  1. does the host provide domain name/dns servers,
  2. my sql suport,
  3. css support,
  4. asp support
  5. ftp support? or
  6. is it onsite builders or just front page enabled?
  7. does / would it support Vb open source if i have to script the forum?
  8. Will it support the following" xml, css, and have a cgi library?

What I have right now, provides all of the above. What i was looking at as options provides most of that. Some of it is limited though in reguards to forums and the likes.

Over all, if i need to build the forum, I would need at least 50 mg of disk space. Also bandwidth is an issue as well.

Those are all things I have to think about if i am going to change hosts. I dont mean to sound negitive hehe.. trust me, i have been looking at a lot of places and host sites (I have even looked at our own isp webspace, and its too limited for what i would like to have and add eventualy. It also will not support enough to have a forum)

Peace,
Sarrene'

I don't like it either. I clicked on the guild page links there and they are all cookie cutter pages. I think you are stuck with their layout but can choose like where to place the calendar and stuff.

I think that design sucks as well

The other 3 dont look too bad but we probably will have to reduce the content from what we have now .

What ww end up with will depend on how much time sarah can spend now that she is working and the support offered by alliance members
